Current Practice

Tom’s current practice includes:

  • insolvency and restructuring;
  • commercial dispute resolution;
  • mergers and acquisitions;
  • information technology agreements; and
  • general commercial agreements such as logistic, service and supply agreements.

Experience

Tom has represented clients on the following matters:

  • advising distressed entities, liquidators and administrators regarding various external administrations;
  • documenting and negotiating transactions in respect of distressed companies;
  • advising in respect of various shareholder and business relationship disputes (including disputes involving complex corporate structures);
  • acting for parties to court proceedings in the Federal and Supreme Courts regarding disputes in relation to various commercial transactions; 
  • acting for a key equityholder in respect of the separation of a prominent Melbourne real estate business;
  • acting for the Dyson’s Group in relation to the acquisition of two discrete transport businesses;
  • acting for a dairy transport and manufacturing company regarding the sale of its business to an ASX listed entity;
  • acting for S Central in relation to a strategic purchase of a Brisbane based IT Services business; and
  • advising a subsidiary of AXA Australia regarding IT licensing and support arrangements.

Qualifications

Tom has Bachelor of Laws and Economics from Monash University.

Tom is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.

Prior to commencing at Hall & Wilcox, Tom worked for a Melbourne and London law firm and as an in-house lawyer for an IT consultancy firm in the UK.
