Current Practice

Rebecca’s practice includes advising on all facets of superannuation for public offer and self-managed superannuation funds as well as high net wealth individuals. She provides prudential, taxation and estate planning advice as it relates to superannuation as well as providing financial services advice on licensing and compliance. Rebecca’s practice includes acting in the establishment and administration of superannuation funds, including structuring advice and document preparation.

Experience

Rebecca’s clients include trustees and administrators of superannuation funds, financial planners, accountants, small to medium enterprises and high net wealth individuals as well as investment banks.

Rebecca’s recent experience includes:

  • advising trustees and members of self-managed superannuation funds on tax
    and prudential issues;
  • advising high net wealth individuals on estate planning strategies associated with superannuation, such as binding and non-binding death benefit nominations,
  • reversionary income streams and maximising contributions to superannuation;
  • advising small and medium enterprises on superannuation guarantee obligations;
  • advising and preparing the documentation to implement superannuation fund borrowing structures for investment and retail banks as well as self-managed superannuation funds;
  • advising on and structuring transactions involving superannuation fund trustees
    investing in related and unrelated companies and trusts;
  • providing superannuation and tax advice on the in specie contribution and
    distribution of assets to and from superannuation, including advising on the
    distribution of death benefits from superannuation;
  • advising on and preparing the documentation to grant enduring powers of attorney
    to self-managed superannuation fund members; and
  • providing advice on the CGT contributions cap and CGT small business
    concessions as they apply to self-managed superannuation funds.

Qualifications

Rebecca has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and is currently undertaking a Masters of Law from the University of Melbourne.

She is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia and Women in Super and is a Specialist Member of the Self-Managed Super Fund Professionals' Association of Australia (SPAA), having been accredited as a SMSF Specialist Advisor.

Rebecca joined Hall & Wilcox in 2006 and worked in the superannuation and financial services practice before focusing on self-managed superannuation funds and tax planning issues.
