Current Practice

Jane’s practice includes:

  • wills disputes;
  • trustee disputes;
  • contentious probate matters;
  • estate planning including the establishment of testamentary trusts;
  • trust establishment and ongoing administration;
  • providing asset protection advice; and
  • structuring for succession of ownership and control of family businesses.

Experience

Jane’s practice involves estate litigation as well as individual and business succession planning and structuring. 

Examples of Jane’s recent experience include:

  • successfully appearing before the Supreme Court of Victoria seeking orders to remove an administrator of an estate;
  • providing advice and conducting complex estate litigation disputes including disputes in relation to Wills and trustee disputes;
  • successfully obtaining a grant of probate of an informal Will;
  • providing succession planning advice to families with children who have special needs including the establishment of special disability trusts;
  • providing advice in relation to personal succession planning including the establishment of testamentary trusts; and
  • reviewing and providing advice in relation to complex family business structures and preparing the documents necessary to pass control of the business to the next generation.

Qualifications

Jane has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) Degree and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Deakin University.

Jane completed her articles at Hall & Wilcox in 2005 and joined the Dispute Resolution & Litigation Practice Group.

During her time with the Dispute Resolution team, Jane was involved in a variety of commercial disputes in both the State and Federal Jurisdictions.

After taking time off to travel overseas, Jane rejoined Hall & Wilcox as a member of the Private Clients team in 2007.

Jane is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and has volunteered with Senior Rights Victoria which is a community legal centre directed at protecting the needs of the elderly.
