Hall & Wilcox advises Canon on CSG deal

Hall & Wilcox has advised Canon Australia (Canon) on a $31 million agreement with CSG Communications Pty Limited (CSG) for Canon's Multi-Function Device (MFD) dealership in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. Canon is one of the world's leading MFD brands.

CSG Communications Pty Limited, a subsidiary of ASX-listed company CSG, signed the agreement on 11 May 2010, acquiring sub-contractor rights to approximately 10,500 Canon MFDs. The agreement hands over the servicing of existing Canon MFD customers to CSG, subject to completion which is anticipated to be 1 July 2010.

The Hall & Wilcox team was led by partner Bruce McFarlane and senior associate Oliver Jankowsky and supported by Ben Hamilton providing Trade Practices advice and Karl Rozenbergs and Melinda Bell for Employment.

Bruce McFarlane commented, "The turnaround for the transaction was very tight - a matter of days. Hall & Wilcox is a full-service commercial firm which allows us to provide seamless commercial advice from relevant practice areas. The quick access to the necessary expertise enabled us to complete the transaction within the timeframe."

"Canon is a market leading supplier of consumer and business imaging solutions and a highly regarded brand in Australia and internationally. Hall & Wilcox have provided legal advice to Canon for many years and through this commercial understanding of their business we were able to act quickly.

"The transaction also highlights Hall & Wilcox's ability to service national clients, not head-quartered in Victoria, from Melbourne."
