Hall & Wilcox builds on insurance capability with acquisition of new team

Leading independent business law firm Hall & Wilcox has expanded its highly regarded insurance law practice by acquiring a new insurance team which will be based in its Sydney office.

The team will join Hall & Wilcox from Sydney firm McCabes and includes two new partners, Matthew Curll and Rachael Arnold and a number of lawyers and support staff.

Tony Macvean, Managing Partner at Hall & Wilcox, said that the team is a perfect complement to its Victorian insurance practice. “Client demand for a high quality insurance practice servicing clients nationally is strong and we are delighted to have attracted such an experienced team.

“Our new and existing teams will be integrated into the one practice. Rachael and Matthew already advise a number of existing Hall & Wilcox insurer clients.”

Matthew Curll and Rachael Arnold and their team bring to Hall & Wilcox both liability, professional indemnity, construction risk and property expertise and experience.  Curll and Arnold are both highly rated by local and London clients.

Arnold commented: “Hall & Wilcox have a strong insurance law reputation and we believe that joining forces will allow us to grow the practice and offer our clients greater depth and expertise.

“We were attracted to Hall & Wilcox by its reputation as an energetic, progressive firm, and feel that there is an alignment between their and our culture and way of doing business. We are also excited by Hall & Wilcox’s plans for Sydney and being part of the growth of such a dynamic firm.”

With this acquisition, the Hall & Wilcox insurance team will comprise four partners, seven senior associates, 10 lawyers and 12 paralegals and support staff.
