Leading independent business law firm, Hall & Wilcox, has strengthened its national banking practice with a new partner, Nick Slack, to be based in its Sydney office.
Nick has 17 years’ experience acting for Australian and international financiers and borrowers in corporate finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance and general finance across financial services, property, technology, resources, healthcare, tourism, agribusiness and more.
He was previously in the banking and finance group at Minter Ellison. Prior to that Nick was sole Australian legal counsel for Fortress Investment Group (an asset-based investment management fund with USD 41.6 billion funds under management), a Senior Associate/Associate in banking at Baker & McKenzie (Sydney) and an Associate at Clifford Chance (London).
Nick will work with Hall & Wilcox partners Mark Inston and Natasha Toholka, special counsel Richard Mann and the banking team in building a national banking practice acting for a mix of financiers and borrowers including major domestic and international banks.
Tony Macvean, Managing Partner of Hall & Wilcox, said Nick would complement the growing banking team. “Nick brings a wealth of experience in local and international banking, and has a background in some key industries for us including financial services and property.
“We expect Nick will be integral to our banking practice as it continues to develop nationally.”
Hall & Wilcox has recently experienced strong growth in partner numbers, through a combination of internal promotions and lateral hires, growing from 42 partners in January 2015 to 65 partners now.
