Hall & Wilcox beefs up innovation focus with new appointment

Prominent independent business law firm, Hall & Wilcox, has deepened its commitment to technology innovation by the appointment of Peter Campbell as Director - Client Solutions.

Peter will help drive components of the firm’s Smarter Law strategy and lead various innovation initiatives, including the development of client-facing technology, improved project management methodology, business process improvement and developing the firm’s knowledge management strategy.

Peter will also head up a newly created client solutions team.

Peter was previously Chief Information Officer/Knowledge Director at Sparke Helmore for approximately 10 years. Peter and his previous team were recognised individually and collectively as winners and finalists of numerous industry awards. Prior to joining Sparke Helmore, Peter was an IT Director and Project Manager at other organisations in the UK and Australia.

Tony Macvean, Managing Partner of Hall & Wilcox, said Peter was appointed to take the firm’s Smarter Law technology strategy and innovation focus to the next level. 'Innovation is something we have always tried to embrace throughout the firm. Having Peter head the co-creation of technology solutions for clients will enable us to continue delivering Smarter Law and better ways of doing things for clients'.

'Peter will have an important leadership role within Hall & Wilcox.'

Hall & Wilcox first upped the innovation ante two years ago when web business and innovation guru, Peter Williams (Deloitte Digital founder and currently Chief Edge Officer of Deloitte Edge) joined the board as a director.

Recent examples of Hall & Wilcox’s innovation include:

  • Insurance Recovery App, a web application for several of our insurance clients. The application enables insurers to identify whether a workers' compensation claim exists and if there is any potential recovery.
  • Collaboration Portal, a customised platform providing a streamlined conduit for all electronic communication and information sharing between the firm and our clients, new instructions and matters are tracked in real time and documents and data are stored securely.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Services, organisational risk management and regulatory compliance solution for clients. The online system assists organisations to identify and manage risks as well as a single repository for all risk and compliance obligations and policies.
  • Blockchain technology, one of only two law firms invited to participate in Westpac's Blockhack 16, an innovation project to develop a commercial application of blockchain technology.
