Learning & Development

We are committed to providing continuous learning and development for our staff.  By developing our people, we are developing experts in the wider fields of law and business.

Learning and development may take many different forms, including attendance at internal and external technical, business and soft skill seminars and workshops.  We see learning as being important at all levels of the organisation with a shared responsibility to learn and share our knowledge.  Partners and staff regularly present on new developments in their area of specialty or around cases of interest.

We also believe, for many, further study is a way of developing increased knowledge and depth of expertise.  We have a generous study policy which includes financial support, various study options and study leave for approved courses.

An individual's learning and development needs are discussed formally in their bi-annual review meeting/discussion.  Staff are encouraged to take responsibility for their development and to identify and discuss training requirements and requests during their reviews.

For Senior Associates, we have an established mentoring program.  The program aims to assist with their personal and professional development and to encourage commitment to the firm and its culture.  All partners are actively involved in the program, displaying their commitment by helping participants achieve their goals.

From time to time, clients may request the secondment of a lawyer.  Secondments provide excellent learning opportunities for lawyers and help further develop and enhance our service offering and our relationships with clients.
