Generally, we collect your personal information directly from you. There may be occasions when we collect your personal information from other sources such as from an information service provider, a publicly maintained record, an insurance company when we are pursuing a claim on its behalf or a company for whom you work.
Why do Hall & Wilcox need your personal information?
We collect this information to provide the best possible service. As part of providing our services to you, we may collect your personal information to give you the option of receiving our updates and publications, and to invite you to training sessions and other Hall & Wilcox functions. If you do not wish to provide us with your name and address, please tell us and we will only request information that is required by law.
If you do not provide us with your personal information we may not be able to assist you in providing you with our legal services (if you are our client), or it may affect our ability to meet our obligations to our clients (if you are not a client).
Who do we disclose your personal information to?
We disclose your personal information for the purposes for which we collect it. That is, generally, only to provide our legal services. To provide our services we may disclose your information to third parties that we engage to perform administrative or other services. Such disclosure is always on a confidential basis. We may also disclose your personal information when necessary in the handling of your legal work, with your consent or if disclosure is required by law.

We hold personal information in both hard copy and electronic forms in secure databases on secure premises, accessible only to authorised staff.

You have a right to access the personal information we collect and hold about you. If at any time you would like to access or change your details, or you would like more information on our approach to privacy, please tell us. In most cases, a summary of your personal information, such as your name, contact details and the matters in which we act for you, are available at no fee. If providing you with such access requires a more detailed retrieval of your information, a fee may be charged for the cost of such retrieval and supply of information.
