Current practice
Keith has extensive legal and tax experience. He has a wide-ranging practice, focusing on:
- income tax;
- capital gains tax;
- tax audits;
- international tax;
- corporatisation and privatisation;
- tax appeals and litigation; and
- corporate structuring and reconstruction
Clients and recent experience
Keith’s clients are substantive corporate groups in property and construction, energy and resources, investment and fund management and tourism. Keith also advises high net worth families and receives referrals from many accountants and lawyers.
Qualifications and personal affiliations
Keith has a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University. He became partner in 1992.
Keith is a Fellow of CPA Australia, the Australian Institute of Management and the Taxation Institute of Australia. He is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Law Council of Australia (Business Law Section).
Prior to joining the firm, he was a tax partner at accounting firms Touche Ross and KPMG.
Keith is a key figure in the tax advisory profession. Keith has been in significant roles in the tax profession for over 20 years. In March 2004 he was appointed by the Government to the Board of Taxation http://www.taxboard.gov.au. His involvement with the Tax profession has extended to Chairman of the Public Accountants Committee, Victorian President, National Councillor, Chairman of the Taxation Centre of Excellence and the National Tax Advisory Committee for CPA Australia. Keith was the accounting profession representative on the Commissioner of Taxation’s Advisory Panel, his National Liaison Committee and the Advisory Committee on the Taxpayers Charter. He was joint Chairman of the working party on the National Review of Standards of the Tax Profession and a member of the steering committee of the Pappas Carter Report reviewing the Australian Taxation Office’s large case audit program. He has for many years been a member of the Victorian Auditor General’s Audit Committee.
